This episode that has a story by Joss Whedon and was written by David Greenwalt starts off with a bang. Buffy is walking through the Masters lair and he moves in for the kill when Buffy wakes up. Joyce sends her off to school but assures her that her father is going to come see her this weekend. Buffy tells Willow that her parents got divorced last year but were separated a while before that. It doesn't really fit with the comics but that means they messed up since this came first.
We learn very quickly that Xander only pays attention to what girls wear and not what they say, even if the girl in question is his teacher. Buffy spots a little boy hanging out outside the classroom and moments later a kids book is over come with spiders. They swarm all over him. Buffy keeps having nightmares, waking up screaming throughout the night. Buffy keeps worrying that her father isn't going to come for her but Joyce keeps telling her that she will show. Giles was lost in the back of the library. He seemed shaken. The Scooby's go to talk to the guy who was over run with spiders and he tells them how he loves spiders, until he was set off to camp and his brother let them all die and ever since he has had nightmares about spiders overrunning him. He blames himself for getting them all killed. Cordy tells Buffy there is a history test and Buffy follows her. She isn't ready for it, Cordy seems unusually cheerful towards her. It is nice to see them getting along again. If only for a bit. Buffy goes to write her name on the test and her pencil breaks. Time seems to just be flying by. Her history teacher is a guy but in the pilot wasn't it a woman? She talked about the fun part of the black plague was. . . I think that was a mistake but it could just be part of the nightmares. A girl goes down stairs to have a smoke break and the creepy little boy tells her that she shouldn't go down there. A monster attacks her beats her up, ironically there is a sign that says smoking kills. Buffy and Giles go to visit the girl who was beat up and she tells them that the only thing she heard was lucky 19. It turns out that she is the second victim. The first is the little boy who Buffy keeps seeing around the school and he is in a coma. People around the school start having their worst fears come true. Xander and Willow walk into class and suddenly his clothes are gone. Giles can't read, he can normally read 5 languages. Buffy thinks the coma kid might be astral projecting. They are trying to figure it out when Hank Summers, Buffy's dad shows up and asks to talk to her. They go outside and he says that it is time to tell her the truth. He tells her that they broke up because of Buffy. Her being there was too much for them to handle. They couldn't deal with it. She ruined their lives because she was rude and not as smart as she should have been. He also tells her that she is being immature by crying about it. He also tells her that he doesn't want to do these weekend visits anymore, they don't do anything for him so he leaves. She sees the coma boy. Xander and Willow head to the library to find Giles and Buffy. They only find Buffy, she is still elsewhere. Willow puts together that it is everyone's nightmares coming true. Giles said that dreams would be a wacky musical version of this. . . can you say Once More With Feelings!!! Giles and Willow put together that it must be Billy, the coma kid. They need to stop him fast because he just turned Cordy, my love, into a nerd with bad hair and that can not stand! Buffy goes to talk to Billy. He is so sad, poor kid. He is lucky 19, or at least that is what the monster calls him. Buffy tries to get the information out of him but the monster shows up and starts attacking the slayer. He is a lot stronger than she is, forcing Buffy to run. The Scooby's split up to find Buffy. Willow spots Cordy being dragged kicking and screaming into the chess club. That poor poor girl I should go save her. Some grabs Willow and she screams as we jump over to Xander finding a blocked off part of the school and a trail of candy bars leading him down a path he should not follow. Look I love candy but even I'm not that stupid. Come on Xander!! Buffy and Billy end up at the baseball field where the kid tells Buffy how he messed up the game. He should have won it for them. Buffy points out that there were other kids playing and it wasn't all his fault. The monster has found them again! They run off! Leading them to a cemetery. Willow is thrown on stage to sing an opera, something she doesn't know how to do!! She is scared out of her mind of being in front of people as we learned last episode with the dramatic reading. Xander is attacked by a killer clown, something that he has been afraid of since he was 6. Buffy and Billy are attacked by the Master who throws her in a coffin and buries her alive, something that I has always been scared of, and something that will come back to hunt her in a few years. Willow and Giles find Xander as the killer clown chases them down, until Xander mans up and knocks the clown out. It makes him feel a lot better. No one else seems to be facing their fears the way he is. Willow spots that the graveyard is across the street and it is night there. They find Buffy's gravestone. Giles is devastated. Buffy digs her way out of her grave, something she will do again years later. Giles and the others freak out for a moment when they see that she is a vampire. He tells her that they can fix this. She just has to keep it together till then. The Scooby gang goes to Billy's room and see his astral form telling him that he is too scared to wake up. The monster attacks. Buffy goes to face him. Vampire slayer verses the monster, it is a lot closer fight this time. Buffy knocks him out. She tells Billy to come finish it himself. He does it and the nightmares all go away as Billy wakes up. Just then the coach shows up and calls the boy his lucky 19. Buffy tells him he is awake and the coach doesn't seem happy. The boy calls him out on it and he tries to run off but Xander and Giles catch him. The coach gets arrested and Buffy's dad, her real dad comes to pick her up, thus ending this episode. I like this episode a lot because it shows us that sometimes the most evil of monsters are really humans. We are the most evil thing in this world and this episode shines a light on it.

Some more jumping around in the viewing order thanks to our friends over at Fox. Episode 8 which should have been episode 6 written by Dawn Prestwich & Nicole Yorkin starts off with our heroes landing in what looks to be a jungle. They have about 6 and a half weeks until the next slide. Remy wastes no time in once more blaming Quinn for everything.
The sliders think they might be home, Arturo says that the food sold at the stand is the best in the world. They fight over how to split it. Arturo says that it could be home. Clinton is president, only it isn't Bill, it is Hillary. Hey maybe they didn't go to another world, maybe they just went to the future? No it's another world and hopefully she doesn't become our next president. They find out very soon that this world treats men the way that our world treats women. The four of them have no money and they have to quickly find jobs if they want to get a place to stay. Remy starts singing asking for change. Quinn tries to work but he can only get work as a nanny. Men have no rights on this world. Remy wears out his voice, but he sang enough to get them a room. They just don't have the money for real food. Wade on the other hand gets a job. She is working for the mayor. Who gave her a cash advance. They have money! The mayor needs people to help with the campaign and Wade gets the guys jobs. The Sliders are going to be having money soon! Arturo quickly gets into it with a woman on the elevator. She quickly puts him in his place. This is not the world for him, it is made even worse by the fact that the woman he hit on and got shot down by is the mayor. His new boss. Arturo is not fitting into this world at all. He is a bit of sexist himself and being on the other side of it doesn't sit well with him. A random guy talks to Arturo about his views and tells him that he has a offer that he might like. Quinn is in his interview and is quickly put down and treated like a sex object by the lady who is interviewing him. He doesn't feel comfortable in it but there isn't much he can do about it. Arturo didn't do as well and was turned away. The reporter from earlier asks Arturo for a few minutes of his time. He takes Arturo to a bar and they tell him that they agree with his views. They want him to run for mayor. He is in shock and doesn't have anything to say. He agreed and Wade tries to talk him out of it. Throwing his own words at him. He wants to help men get equal rights on this world. They slide on the same day the election is set to end so it works out perfectly. Wade and Quinn are dating, I don't remember that and I've seen this show a million times. I always remember them as flirting and skating around a relationship but never going all the way for it. A girl pulls up and picks Remy off the street telling him she can help him get signed. He goes with her to lunch to talk all about it. Arturo jumps right into his campaigning. It is not going well for him. He makes the news but as a joke. Wade keeps pointing out that men are bad and women are good. Wade and Arturo are the same on this issue but from the opposite sides. Wade tries to drag Quinn into the fight but he is smart enough to stay silent. Meanwhile Remy goes home with the lady who picked him. She is such a guy, right down to the horrible pick up lines. He asks about the record producers and she says all in good time and starts kissing on him. Telling him if he wants her help she has to help him. Arturos campaign starts gaining steam. Not a lot but a great deal more than anyone ever thought. He even gets a debate like he was asking for. He is doing good and his office is attacked. People are not happy with what he is doing. He gets a call with a bomb threat. Remy got laid is beyond happy about it. Quinn calls him, how did he get the ladies phone number? Unless Remy has been staying there a few days. Quinn is getting just as tired of this world as Arturo. He isn't liking how he is being treated either. The mayor calls Quinn into her office where she shows him a slam ad against Arturo. Quinn asks to talk to Wade, she tells Quinn that she had nothing to do with this. He is pissed at her for siding with the mayor over Arturo. Quinn quits and problems between the two are building. Quinn goes to see Arturo and tries to talk him out of continuing the election. Arturo says he has to, he is even going to stay on this world if he wins. Remy meets his new girls ex boyfriend who shows up uninvited and tries to chase Remy out. They get into it. Remy finds out that she isn't even a record producer. Someone shoots at Arturo. Things are getting worse and worse. Wade's sexism is getting more and more annoying. Remy is getting more and more hurt by this girl. She takes him for granted and he is starting to bitch and whine about it. She kicks him out. Arturo tries to throw the election. He thinks that if he withdraws it would throw men back many decades but if he loses it wouldn't hurt the cause. He plans to cry during the debate, turning the crowd against him. He storms off stage crying. The people who have been pushing him to become mayor come up and tell him that while he pushed some of his supports away he gained even more. It helped him instead of hurting him. He now has a good shot at winning. Arturo still hasn't decided on if he was going to stay or not. Wade and Arturo make a bet, if he loses than he is Wade's slave on the next slide. He is announced the loser and gives a speech telling his people to fight on. Arturo agrees to slide away. The sliders jump through the vortex, moments later it comes out that the numbers were wrong, Arturo won. He was elected mayor! He will just never know! The Sliders are on a paradise world and Arturo is stuck serving Wade hand and foot. Sucks for him, the slide lasts just over 9 days. In this episode written by Dan Lane we see the sliders slide into a world that seems to be going to hell. Cars are crashes on the sides of the streets, couples are making out like crazy in pubic, food is over priced. The sliders soon learn that they slide into a world that only has two days left before an asteroid hits the Earth. Not a problem for people who can jump from Earth to Earth right? Well here is the catch. . . they slide in 3 days time. One day after the Earth dies.
Remy goes right back to his favorite pastime, blaming Quinn for everything that goes wrong in their lives. He storms out, saying he will be back just before the asteroid hits. Wade says that she wants to go see her family, even if it isn't really her family it would help her deal. Quinn goes with her leaving Arturo alone. Arturo goes to see what the big brains have to say and he spots the hippie from Earth Prime who says that Albert Einstein got something wrong when he built his nuke and that is why it didn't work. Arturo hears that the reason it didn't work was that there wasn't enough material on Earth to make the bomb go off and Arturo knew that that wasn't true. He teams up with this kid to try and fix the bomb, as luck would have it the kid has the bomb. The government didn't care if someone took it because it didn't work. Wade's family isn't on this Earth so she goes with Quinn to his house. His family is gone but it is his house. In the basement he finds the sliding machine. The Quinn of this Earth thought it was a time machine but Quinn thinks he can get it up and running again. Wade wants to talk about their feeling but Quinn asks for a half hour to get some work done first. He almost gets it working but it overheats the circuits and knocks out the power. Ruining their last hope. Quinn breaks down. Remy goes to church to try and find some peace there but he just can't seem to come to grips with the world ending. With his own death. He goes from the church to a nearby party where a married woman starts hitting on him and her husband seems to be ok with it. Even wishes them fun. Arturo is trying to get work done on the fatman while the hippie keeps blasting music and talking about everything he is going to do with nuclear power after they save the Earth. Arturo doesn't like what he hears but he accepts it until the hippie says that no one in the world will ever mess with them again. After all the USA would have nukes. When the kid goes to the restroom Arturo takes one piece of the blueprints so that the hippie won't be able to figure it out once Arturo is gone. Remy stumbles into a game of Russian roulette hosted by the husband. He saves the wife who was hitting on him from the room. Quinn tries to be hopeful that they can escape alive but Wade keeps him to reality. The two of them almost kiss but Wade pulls away at the last minute. The two of them have a romantic dinner and talk about everything that has happened. They even dance. They finally kiss!!!! So Arturo picks this moment to come into the house and asks for their help. He tells them he recreated the bomb. It turns out that Einstein messed the bomb up himself. Quinn and Wade go with Arturo to help set up the bomb. The asteroid is so close they can see it. Remy never came back to meet with them. He is helping out at the church. Feeding the needy with the wife he saved. He seems to have found his peace. He takes off to go catch up with the other sliders. He catches up with them just before the bomb sends off. He even makes amends with Quinn. The nuke destroys the asteroid saving the day and the Earth. The sliders now have the extra day they need to slide off of this world. The blueprint that Arturo stole falls out of his pocket and the hippie picks it up. This world is now stuck in the hippies hands. Arturo saved the world today only to doom it tomorrow. Early in the episode a cop tries to give a guy a ticket and he tears it up. Since the world is ending she can't really do anything and just takes off giving him a victory. Once the world is saved she comes back to give him the ticket again. It is little details like that that just make me love this show more and more every episode. Right before the Sliders slide off Arturo learns that he lost the blueprint but it is too late, the vortex is open and he has to go. Another great episode in the Sliders verse! We have made it to the episode that introduces us to the greatest demon hunter ever. . .Sid! Written by Rob Des Hotel & Dean Batali. The episode starts off with a voice talking about being made whole again. We move through a group of untalented students getting ready to audition where see a kid with a creepy puppet and hear Cordy trying and failing to sing. Giles is stuck supervising it, while he talks about the new principle named Snyder. The Scooby's sit and mock Giles for a while before running into the new principle, he forces all 3 of them to sign up for the talent show. Poor kids.
The kid with the puppet named Sid, additions and half way through it the puppet starts talking in its own voice and makes fun of the kid. Getting a reaction from everyone. Back in the locker rooms a girl is getting changed when she hears someone coming. The voice from the start yells that it will be made fresh and she screams. The kids trying to show off skills and talents at this school are just jokes. Willow, Buffy and Xander are practicing a dramatic scene but Xander isn't in the spirit of it. The puppet hits on the girls and they get annoyed at his host for it. Snyder talks to Giles about how he is going to change everything about the school. He is going to whip it into shape. He doesn't think kids should be treated like people. The girl is the locker room had her heart removed. It was removed by a knife, so the gang is thinking that it was a human and not a demon who did it. Buffy keeps pushing demon but Giles isn't buying it. I forgot how many times this first season Giles is wrong and one upped by Buffy. It's kind of funny. The gang goes to start questioning everyone about the girl and they all point them towards the kid with Sid. The kids name is Morgan. Buffy talks to Morgan and sees how he keeps holding his head. Sid tells Buffy off and she thinks it is Morgan. She hasn't yet put it all together yet. The Scooby gang thinks it is Morgan who is doing everything. Buffy is fighting against this believe but everyone is against her. Buffy breaks into his locker and someone is watching her. Out of nowhere Snyder gets a hold of and tells her he is watching her. Someone else is still watching both of them. She goes to get Sid but he isn't in there. We see that Sid and Morgan are the ones watching them. In a empty room Sid and Morgan are talking about Buffy and having to get rid of her. Once she is gone Sid will be free. Morgan fights against it. Joyce wants to go see the talent show but Buffy doesn't want her there. She thinks that Joyce will be safer if she doesn't come. Buffy goes to sleep and Sid watches her from outside her window. Buffy lets out a scream and there is no sign of Sid. Joyce tells her it was all a nightmare. The magician keeps messing up his act as Cordy fights with Giles about where in the show she preforms. Buffy tells the other Scooby's about what happened the last night. She tells them that she thinks it was Sid and all they all make fun of her. The rest still thinks that it is Morgan and not Sid. Meanwhile Giles finds out about a tribe of 7 demons who need to get 7 human organs to stay looking like humans. They now think that Morgan might be one of these demons. In class the next day Sid keeps watching Buffy and turns to talk to Morgan. The teacher snaps at him and Sid talks back to the teacher. She takes the dummy up and Morgan is bothered by this. Sid keeps talking trash from inside the locked cabinet. After class he goes to see the teacher to get Sid back but he is missing. Morgan freaks out. It turns out that Xander stole him and brings him into the library to show the rest of the Scooby's. Xander keeps slamming his head into things to prove he is not real. Buffy goes off to find Morgan. Xander is having way too much fun with all of this. Willow and Giles go to do more research. Buffy starts looking around under the stage where the only person she finds is Snyder who threatens her. He is very creepy and it wouldn't be a stretch to think that he is the demon. Willow finds a passage that says that if a doll has life it can harvest human organs to become a human. Now they start to agree with Buffy about the killer being Sid. Buffy finds Morgan's dead body and gets trapped under some lights. The demon. . . or puppet stole Morgan's brain and now is closing in on Buffy. She tries to get free but Sid shows up and tries to kill her. She gets free and traps Sid, the two of them both tell the other that they will never be human. Buffy takes Sid back to the Scooby gang and we learn his back story. He was a demon hunter who was cursed into a dummy. Sid has killed 6 out of the 7 demons and if he can kill the last one he will be free. Now that the demon has the brain he will have taken off so they just need to find out who is missing. Buffy figures out that when Sid kills the last demon he will die. But it will be a blessing for him. He is ready to go. No one is missing from the show. Buffy hops down to talk to Giles and Sid is gone. They are back to thinking he did it. Snyder watches on all creepy like making us think he might have did it. Buffy finds Morgan's brain so now we know the demon or dummy or Sid still needs a brain. They find out that Morgan has cancer and that is why the brain was rejected. Buffy and Xander think the demon is after Willow, meanwhile the magician is working with Giles. He is trying to cut his head open since he is the demon!! Xander figures out that the demon is after Giles. Buffy runs off to go find him. She stops the demon from cutting off his head at the last minute but the rope still breaks and is about to cut off Giles head until Xander saves him. Together Buffy and Sid manage to kill the demon and save the day. Giles is shaken. Sid turns into just a dummy, his spirit leaving it behind. The episode ends with the Scooby's doing the drama reading. It is bad. Very Very Very bad. So bad that Willow runs off stage. Welcome to episode 8 of the show we all know and love. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This story was written by Ashley Gable & Thomas A. Swyden. While being a great episode it does date the show more than any other episode. Not for any real reason other than the laptops seen in it. They look so ancient. The story itself almost fits in better now than it did then.
It starts off in the 1400's where a demon who gets people to love him before killing them is banished into a book for all time. Or at least till some stupid people from the 90's scan him into the computer and set him free on the internet. Who is responsible for all of this? Well the computer teacher and her students. Now this computer teacher? Yeah she is Jenny Calendar, future girlfriend of Giles and all around cool character whose time was cut far too short. After everyone else leaves for the day Willow stays late and scans the book in question onto the schools computer. Right afterwards a message reads Where am I? The next day Willow tells Buffy that she was up all night talking to some guy, Buffy is all excited for her until she finds out that she met the guy online. That part scares Buffy. Willow gets kind of hurt that Buffy isn't happy for her so Buffy changes gears and becomes the supportive friend. We see students, with the old ancient laptop, papers get replaced with pro-Nazi papers. The demon is on the move. Xander is jealous of Willow and her new online boyfriend. He is jealous of everyone and everything this season. Season one Xander is Mr. Jealousy. If a turtle got a girlfriend he would break down in tears. He starts putting thoughts into Buffy's head and gets her to rethink the relationship as well. Now she is against Willow's new relationship as well. Willow starts coming to school late and blowing off classes. She starts getting into fights with Buffy about it. This new relationship is causing problems in their friendship and her life as a whole. Buffy goes to one of the smart guys in school for help and he gets all weird about it. Buffy thinks for a moment that he is behind it but he swears he isn't. Buffy goes to Giles and he thinks all the people who use computers are crazy like that. He can't do anything to help. Buffy follows the smart kid back to a building runs by scientists. The weirder smart kid gets orders from the computer to kill Buffy. Things are getting bad and fast! Xander tells them that it closed down last year. So the question is who reopened it and why? Buffy says that her spider senses are tingling, a Marvel reference that fits well since the X-Man Kiddy Pryde is one of the inspirations for Buffy Summers herself. Buffy and Xander plan to check it out why Willow talks to her boyfriend who is starting to scare her. Giles and Jenny get into a fight about computers vs books. Giles makes some good points that over the years have been proven to be true. Human interaction is quickly dying. We have started to cut ourselves off from one another and go out of our way to hide in our homes and pretend other people don't exist. It is getting bad! Buffy is told that Willow is looking for her in the locker room where the shower is on. Buffy goes to turn it off and someone throws live wires into it almost killing her if it was for the one smart guy warning her. She lived but only just. The smart guy quits working for the computer demon. Buffy and the others figure out what is going on. Buffy tries to find out more about him but the demon confronts Buffy and Xander says that he can't do anything while stuck in a computer while Buffy and Xander point out all that he can do. While this story is good for when it was made it could be so much more deadly in the modern age where we live our whole lives behind these damn machines. Xander keeps trying to get a hold of Willow. Buffy finds the guy who saved her dead so she sets out with Xander to find and keep Willow safe while Giles tries to find a way to get the demon out of the computer and back into the book. Willow gets home to find a massage from her boyfriend wanting to meet her. She closes it and it turns back on. Someone knocks on the door but there is no one there. She turns around to look and gets kidnapped. Giles starts to tell Jenny about the supernatural but she already knows. Buffy and Xander find Willow's house empty. Where are her parents? They figure that she must be at the building the computer kids rebuilt. Jenny knows the demon Giles is taking about. She is saying that everything he can find in his books she can find online. She is basically a cyber witch. She agrees to help Giles get him back into the book. Willow wakes up to see her boyfriend, a evil demon robot. Adam? No not yet! The first evil robot demon! Jenny puts together a cyber circle to try and trap him again. Willow tells the demon off for lying to her. He tells her that he didn't. He also points how the world needs him. How people are evil and hurt each other every chance they get. He can save people from themselves. All they have to do is give him their love. Giles and Jenny start preforming the spell as Buffy and Xander try to get to Willow who is trapped with the demon. He finally accepts that she doesn't want to be with him. He feels that the only thing left to do is kill her but Giles spell halts him for a minute while Buffy breaks into the room. The spell works, well kind of. He isn't trapped in the book, he is trapped in his robot body. The demon tries to kill the Scooby's, even over powering Buffy. Willow starts hitting him with a fire extinguisher. It gives Buffy the distraction she needs to electrocute him and save the day. Giles goes to see Jenny, giving her an earring and you can see just how much he likes her. Giles says that knowledge gained from computers are fleeting where as the knowledge from books lasts a great deal longer. She also starts flirting with Giles. The Scooby's talk about how none of them have good love lives. They are all doomed to cursed relationships. It's time for another exciting episode of Dollhouse this time written by Sarah Fain & Elizabeth Craft. We starts off with Echo being a mid-wife out in the mountains helping to give birth. Topher wipes it all from her mind and she reenters the dollhouse.
Sierra sits down with Echo and is clearly just a doll while Echo starts asking questions. She is not the same as everyone else. We also see for the first time that Victor is a doll as well. Topher tells Boyd about how worried he is. Echo, Sierra and Victor keep sitting together and at the same table. It seems that something is going on with all of the dolls not just Echo. DeWitt is ordered to take care of Ballard. He is proving too dangerous. Echo is sent on a dangerous mission, or so we are told but it seems like she is just for some fun at a bachelor party. Until she goes up stairs and is seen running bloody. The bank manager offers her 10 thousand dollars to sign a paper and forget everything. She knocks him out and calls the men who were hurting her. She tells them she is in. It seems it was all a set up. Echo is in charge of this crew. She has strict orders not to kill anyone. They blow a hole in the wall. They have to move fast now. They make it into a vault full of stolen pieces of art, expensive pieces of art. Ballard makes it home, still hurting from the other episode. He hears someone behind him, it turns out to be Victor. He is asking him for help. He says he didn't set Ballard up, he was set up and he is about to die unless Ballard can help him out and get him into witness protection. Ballard agrees to help him as long as it is the last time the two of them never see each other again. Echo and her crew are locked in the safe with no way out while Topher trains his new assistant. He sees that something is wrong with Echo's stats. It seems that someone wiped her over the phone. She is back to being a doll. This is not good. Boyd catches the art expert who trapped the rest of the crew in the safe. DeWitt and Topher listen to the phone call Echo and Boyd had when she started acting weird. He tells her that it was a remote wipe. He tells them that without the comfort of the dollhouse she is going to collapse into a coma or go crazy and start killing people. Without help things are going to go bad for her. Whoever wiped Echo is at least as smart as Topher if not smarter. DeWitt has Sierra imprinted with the same personality as Echo so that she can use her to help them. Topher calls and tells Boyd what happens and he calls DeWitt. She tells him if things go south Echo isn't safe. Protecting the Dollhouse comes first. Boyd makes his way inside to help. Echo starts to remember her real personality. She is starting to pull an Alpha. This episode is very important, not just because of what is happening to Echo but because of the remote wipe. It sets the stage for what happens in the future. Everything that happens down the road has its roots in this episode. Sierra walks Echo through what to do. It seems to be going well until the alarm goes off. DeWitt sends Sierra off for her treatment. The door opens and the guards order them to come out. Echo is told to fire at them but she instead knocks her partner over and runs. The guy in there who liked her told her to run while the smoke was blinding everyone so she can escape without being seen. Boyd goes in looking for her and finds her. She brought the guy who helped her out with her. Saving him from jail or death. Boyd gets them both out of there. Victor tells Ballard that he needs to go. Ballard instead sets him up. He is now on the watch list and can't go anywhere. Echo is back to the dollhouse and everything seems to be back to normal. Topher seems to think that Echo is fine and there was no long term damage. Topher gets a promotion and finds out that Alpha is still alive. The second episode to air was written by Ann Powell & Rose Schacht and show have taken place 4th. But again, blame Fox!
The sliders land in a world where oil is coming from everywhere. Everyone is rich. People are just handing out money and in Arturo's case, kisses. The Sliders are having the time of their lives. Turns out that Quinn's double just hit a ton of oil. His family are now millionaires. And so of course it is time to slide out of there. Easy come, easy go. On the new world Wade shoots out of the vortex and into the street where she is almost hit by a truck. A man saves her and she gives him a kiss. He asks how she could do that after he tried to save her. We quickly learn they are stuck here for 2 days and we see that the place has people dying left and right. They go for food and have to pass through scanners that make sure they are healthy. One guy is coughing and everyone is watching him like he slapped their mother. They are stuck with food that makes airport food look good. The waitress seems to know Quinn. Remy throws up the food, it must be bad and sees a wanted poster for Quinn. They need to get out of there fast. He is patient zero. They try to leave just as people show up for the guy coughing. He tries to escape but they don't let him. The waitress recognizes Quinn and yells for them to get him. The sliders make it away. For now. Wade starts to get sick. It seems this world doesn't have any meds. At least not what we would call. It seems that penicillin was never invented here. We also meet the hotel clerk that we meet on a great many worlds. Remy tells him that Wade just has a hangover. A fan of the Quinn from this world calls in the cops and they take Quinn. Arturo makes it back to Remy and tells him about the Quinn of this world who made a plague to take out the world. It seems that Arturo is also coming down with the Q. It might be Remy sliding out alone, foreshadowing like nothing else. Two scientists keep running tests on Quinn and find that the Q virus isn't in him at all. It seems that this world's Quinn escaped on the female scientists watch. She hurries to go and examine her himself. Wade is getting worse and worse as Arturo starts to catch up. Wade takes off and Remy and Arturo track her down. She doesn't seem to recognize them. Other people with the Q show up and she seems to know them. This virus is weird. The sliders go with them. The sliders meet this world's Quinn. Arturo tells the infected Quinn who seems to believe them. It seems that Quinn wasn't the one who invented the Q, he was given it and sent into the world. They did it to control people. Arturo starts looking for mold to create some penicillin. He tells Remy that while he works on this he needs to find a way to save their Quinn. This world's Quinn helps Remy get into the CDC to save Quinn. He tells him that the female scientist is his friend and will help him. Right after that scene we see her helping our Quinn get out of there. The cab driver from the other worlds is back and once again helping Remy get around. He gets there just as Quinn is escaping and the female scientist is shot. She dies in his arms and he runs towards Remy and they head back to camp. Why would the camp driver wait for them when people are shooting? I would have sped away. This world's Quinn is amazed at what Arturo is doing. He would never have thought of that. Wade is getting worse and worse. She is seeing things and if Arturo doesn't hurry than all hope is lost. Our Quinn shows up and the two meet face to face before he goes to comfort Wade. Remy tells this world's Quinn that his friend didn't make it. He is heart broken. Arturo finished his penicillin. He tells them how to get it into people to help them. He tests it on himself first, this world's Quinn is mad that he tries it on himself first. He points out that he is trying it out on himself in case it goes wrong. Remy now has the Q as well. If the cure doesn't work they miss the slide. The CDC closes in on their location. Everything is coming down to the wire. Arturo wakes up and proves that it works. They start giving it to people as the CDC comes in. The sliders run, helped by this world's Quinn. The people jump to this world's Quinn's help and he tells the CDC that everyone knows how to make it now. The Q is over once and for all. The Sliders slide, leaving this world behind and hoping for the best. The Sliders are in danger as cannibals move in on them. That's how the episode ends. I love it! At long last we have the episode written by the one and only Jane Espenson. One of the greatest writers alive meets one of the greatest shows ever made, it is like a match made in heaven. The only thing that would make it better was if there was a sword fight. . . oh wait!
The episode starts off with a pool game played with holographic balls. During the game Mal steals from one of the people who is offering them a job once they learn that they are slavers. A bar fight breaks out and we learn just how much of a fighter Jayne is. He kicks some ass, Mal gets in some good hits away. On the way to the job Inara picks a client, it is one that she has worked for before. Mal walks in and the jealousy washes off him in waves. When they make it planetside he takes it out on Kaylee who just wants a pretty dress. Mal goes to meet with Badger who wants to hire them for a job. Mal points out how that didn't go so good the last time but Badger assures him that this time is different. He gets Kaylee the dress she liked and took her to the party, the same one that Inara and her date are at. He is meeting his client there, Kaylee quickly ditches him for food. Who can blame her. The rest of the crew is back on Serenity playing poker where the stakes are chores. River starts to freak out and Simon and Book go to check on her while Jayne cheats and looks at their hands. Zoe and Wash partake in some marital fun. Kaylee wanted so badly to be apart of this world but she just doesn't fit in. Everyone there treats her like an outsider and makes her feel worse and worse. An older gentleman shows up and puts the mean girls in their places. Saving Kaylee. Mal spots his client and makes his way over to talk to him. He is distracted by Inara and her date. Mal's client isn't biting, he doesn't like Badger, no one really does. Inara's date comes and introduces himself to Mal's client. The tension is mounting here. Mal asks Inara for a dance, making things even worse for everyone. You have to love Mal and his boldness. Mal and Inara argue over who is the more honest of the two. Insulting each other. Inara's client snatches her away, he is now the jealous one. Mal hits him and duel is called out. The two men must now fight to the death with swords. Kaylee is pulled away from all the men who now love her. Mal's client tells Mal that if he survives the battle he will do business with them. Mal is forced to stay there so that he doesn't try to escape. Badger shows up on Serenity and tells the crew about the Captain and what is going on. They think that Badger came there to help the captain but he really came here to make sure that they don't try to help the captain because it would make him look bad. He didn't come alone, he has a whole mess of men with him and they all have guns pointed at Kaylee. Mal is on his own. Inara sneaks out to go find Mal. Mal says that her client insulted her and Inara points out that Mal forced his hand, besides he doesn't back down from a fight. She points out that he does all the time. He won't admit it but he is fighting for Inara. He cares about her, even if he doesn't want to admit it. His crew sit around playing cards while talking about how to beat Badger and his men. They need a distraction and no one likes Jayne's idea of people getting naked. River walks out and the crew worries, Simon walks over to her and tries to get her to leave but it is too late, Badger sees her. She puts on a British accent and puts him in his place. He is intimidated by her. Who can blame him. She walks back to her room and Jayne points out that that was the perfect distraction. Inara teaches Mal how to sword fight. Mal calls her a hore and Inara asks why he would lay someone out for implying she is one when he calls her one to her face. He says he may not respect her job but her client doesn't respect her as a person and it is different. He then asks her not to stay with the man. It's his way of showing he cares. The fight starts the next morning. Right off the bat Mal is put on the defensive. He starts to make a come back but he doesn't know that he is being toyed with. Mal gets stabbed in the side. The fight is not going his way. His new wound is making the battle ever hard for Mal. His sword breaks and the sword is at his neck. Inara tells her client she will stay here with him if he lets Mal live. Mal uses this to get the upper hand. A few moments later he has the client at his mercy. Mal doesn't kill him, he just stabs him a few times. He gets the job! The crew just gets their plan up and ready but Mal shows up. It is all over and they did not a thing about it. Mal kicks Badger and his men off the ship. They tell Mal how they were going to help, cept for Wash, he was just going to watch but he was very excited. Kaylee hangs her dress up in her room, she still loves it. Oh and the cargo, it was a great deal of cows. Big smelly cows. Inara tells Mal that she is thankful that he defended her honor. She also tells him that she was never planning to stay, he asks why and she gives every reason other than for Mal which we know is the real reason. An amazing episode by an even more amazing writer. The origin of Angel is here at last, written by the one and only David Greenwalt. The episode starts off with the Master growing more and more pissed off that Buffy keeps stopping his me so he sends the 3 The Scooby's hang out at the Bronze as it has the most unsanitary event known to man. The prefumigation party where if you kill and turn in a cockroach you get a free drink. And people dig this. What happened to our health codes? To human hygiene? I' disgusted. . . oh look a cockroach. Where's my free drink?
Buffy heads home and is attacked by the 3 when Angel swings by to save her. They rush back to her house where she invites him in. Angel takes his shirt off so that Buffy can patch him up and you can see how attracted to him she is. The chemistry between these two is intense Joyce comes home and Buffy rushes to her aid and tries to get upstairs as fast as possible, so that she wouldn't find Angel so of course he comes out and introduces himself. Joyce kicks Angel out so Buffy pretends to have him leave and then sneaks him up into her room. Angel tells Buffy that vampires killed him family, it is kind of true, one vampire killed his family. He did it himself when e first became one. He quickly changes the topic when it gets close to this. Buffy and Angel have their first sleepover and while nothing happens between the two of them it is still very sweet. Xander is beyond jealous. There isn't a word for how jealous he is. It's bad. The 3 offer their lives to the Master since they failed and he toys around with the thought of letting them live, then Darla kills them. Giles tries to tell Buffy that she needs a lot more training and she kicks his ass showing him up. She gets home and finds her diary on the stand and starts yelling at Angel about reading it and that nothing he thinks he read is what she meant. He tells her that her mother moved it and he never looked inside. The two start kissing and he vamps out and jumps from the window. She lets out a scream, the man of her dreams just became the man of her nightmares. Giles tells Buffy that there is no such thing as a good vampire. She has to slay him. It is her duty. Angel goes home to find Darla waiting for him. We learn here that Darla and Angel have a history. That they have been together for a long time and she is pissed that he is running around with a high school girl. He says that he isn't like Darla and the others and she points out that he is more like them than he would like to admit, that he can only hide from it for so long and the real Angel will come out soon. It's also the first time we hear about the curse. Giles finds records of Angel but they are old. He hasn't done anything in almost a 100 years. Buffy asks if he could have reformed and Giles says that vampires don't reform. Later that night Willow and Buffy are working on history so that they can really talk about boys instead. Buffy doesn't want to kill Angel, she thinks he is a good man, or vamp as it is. Joyce is home alone when Darla knocks on the door. She pretends to be a friend of Buffy's who is here to help her study for history. Joyce invites her in. Angel gets to the house just as Joyce lets out a scream and Darla has started feeding. She tosses the body to Angel and takes off. He vamps out, he didn't mean to it was just instinct but Buffy walks in and tosses him out of a window telling him that she will kill him if she sees him again. Buffy gets Joyce to the hospital where the other Scooby's meet up with her. She is very confused about the librarian being there but she rolls with it. Buffy is now on a war path. She wants to go and stop Angel, she is pissed and wants blood. Giles warns her that Angel is dangerous and she needs to be careful while Darla is whispering dark thoughts into Angel's ear. He doesn't want to hear it but Darla won't stop. Joyce and Giles start talking about Buffy. The start of a horrible relationship that Giles needs no part of. He can do so much better than her. Joyce mentions Darla and Giles figures out what really happens. He tells Willow and Xander and the three of them set off to go find Buffy. Buffy tracks Angel down to the Bronze, since it is closed it is the perfect place for a show down. Angel doesn't try to explain who he is, what he is he just goes for the fight. Almost as if he wants to die. He even starts taunting Buffy, she asks him why he played all these games with her. Why didn't he just attack and kill her when he had the chance. He admits to Buffy that killed his family and everyone he met. He tells her about he curse that the gypsies did to him. He tells Buffy he hasn't fed on a living human being since that day. Which is a lie. We know of at least two people he has turned into a vampire since then. He tells Buffy that Darla fed on her mom and Buffy tells Angel he can kill her, he doesn't. That's the moment Darla shows up and we see the love triangle to end all love triangles. Darla and Buffy fight over Angel or Angelus as his demon name is. Darla even owns up to being Angel's sire. Darla shoots Angel, it won't kill him but it will hurt! Buffy's crossbow is no match for a pair of guns. She is literally outgunned. Willow yells information that everyone already knows down below and it gives Buffy a chance to turn the tables of Darla. She tries and it goes her way or a bit but those damn guns keep getting in the way. Angel swoops in and stakes Darla. Stakes his sire, stakes his lover. He sacrifices his past for his future. It is the very definition of romantic. The Master breaks down. He misses Darla, his favorite child for 400 years. The anointed one whispers in his ear telling him that he will stand with him. He will help him on his quest. Angel shows up at the bronze to talk to Buffy. Xander shows off some more of that signature jealousy of his. He should really just start calling himself that. Angel tells Buffy that the two of them could never be a thing. So of course they start kissing. Her cross, the one he gave her burns into his neck and he says nothing. He takes the pain because it means he gets to kiss her. In this episode written by Lee Goldberg and William Rabkin we see another example of just how little Fox cares about their shows or the art of television. Now this was aired as episode 5 of the series and yet it starts off with the sliders on the top of a roof in a world over run with water while wearing hippie clothes. The ending of episode 6, you know the one that airs the week after this one, ends with them on a world that is about to be drowned out while wearing hippie clothes. This is clearly taking place right after that one so why air it first? It makes no sense. But Fox does that a lot so it's to be expected.
They arrive on a new world where we quickly learn that the Americans never won their freedom and it is still a colony of the British. We also see very quickly that Arturo is something special on this world. Everyone keeps bowing to him. In fact when Wade is almost run over the man starts yelling at her until he sees Arturo and he backs down and gives them a free hotel room. Once in the room we find out that Arturo is the Sheriff on this world and that since the King is lost at war he is second in line for the throne. The gang decides that they need to get out of the city fast so that no finds out that Arturo isn't the real sheriff. It isn't long before the car they get breaks down on the back roads and everyone but for Arturo is pushing it along. It seems on this world after America failed their revolution everyone else did too. A few Kingdoms own pretty much everything. It isn't long before they are stopped by the military and it seems the sheriff has ordered the Prince killed and for it to look like an accident. The Sliders get involved and save the Prince. Not long after they are captured by the Oakland Raiders who are what is left of the resistance movement. Quinn hands over the Prince and Arturo so that he and the others can get in good with this group and they can all stay together till the slide that is 5 days away. He even works hard to keep them alive because the raiders just want them dead. \ The Arturo of this world is an evil man who has anyone who questions him arrested and maybe even put to death. He finds out that raiders have the Prince and someone pretending to be him as hostages and he is not happy. He wants them all dead. The resistance responds by wanting to kill the Prince and Arturo but Quinn just starts saying famous lines and somehow these people fall for it. He starts leading attacks on people to steal from the rich and give to the poor like some kind of Robin Hood. The raiders are now known as Quinn and the raiders and the Sheriff is making it out as if they are the ones who are going to kill the Prince. Our Arturo is now walking free among the resistance. Quinn has enough pull in the movement to have the Prince at least untied. The Prince asks Wade out on a date but she is leaving. She lets him down gently. He asks if she is in love with Quinn, getting right to the heart of the matter. She gets into it with Quinn about everything. The Prince escapes and Wade is in trouble for leaving him untied. With one day left before the Slide Quinn goes looking for him. The Prince sees how little his people have, changing his views on everything. He sees Quinn gets arrested and he goes back to the resistance. Arturo comes up with an idea to save Quinn without starting a war. The raiders take over the sheriff's station, they put the Prince on the air, he is to pardon Quinn expose he sheriff and give people Democracy. Arturo gives the Prince the bill of rights and Remy tries to cut out the 2nd amendment, which is an important one, one that people don't seem to understand anymore. It isn't about protecting your home from common crimiles it is to protect yourself from the government something that this world needs more than anything else. Arturo forces it to stay. The sheriff is about to have Quinn killed when the Prince cuts into his video feed and has the sheriff arrested and Quinn set free. Quinn rushes out of the building he only has minutes left to get out before the slide is set to go. He makes it just in time for them to open the vortex and get out of there. The sliders are gone from this world but they will never forget them. They changed this world forever. The Prince asks Wade to be his queen she kisses him and then follows Quinn into the vortex. I guess that's a no. Such a great episode! |
